We are a team of local opticians who provide eye examinations and eye care for people at home.
We set up optomise in 1999 to provide a friendly, caring and professional service for people across Northern Ireland who found it difficult to get out to an optician. We never thought that as two local opticians we would grow to become Northern Ireland’s largest provider of home eye care, win a number of prestigious National awards or have a team of 22 people, all dedicated to providing eye care and advice of the highest standard.
Providing eye examinations at home is what we do, but we now find ourselves involved in so many other roles which we hope all add to the quality of service we deliver.
We provide training on dementia and sight and how to improve quality of life and to date we have trained over 7000 care staff. We are involved with both Stirling and Bradford Universities and a number of National Charities in researching ways of improving eye care for older people. We are serving members of the National Domiciliary Eye Care Committee, which is committed to promoting the highest standards of patient care for those unable to attend a high street practice and are proud to have been involved in writing the ‘Code of Practice’ for domiciliary eye care. We are serving members of Optometry Northern Ireland and have been involved in the development of the GAIN standards.
All of this allows us to provide a much needed service and improve peoples’ lives.
